Influenza or commonly known as ‘flu’ is an infectious disease of birds and mammals that are caused by RNA viruses. In the Philippines, the Department of Health (DOH) is still campaigning on health awareness of citizens on the spread of influenza and how it can be prevented especially that flu season is from July to December. The flu vaccines have been made available in the health centers. More emphasis of this disease is given to those persons who are at high risk of getting flu including young children, pregnant women, senior citizens and those who already have developing major diseases.
The spread of flu can be prevented if each person takes serious precautions in isolating himself or herself when infected with the virus. It is also important to have water therapy, eat nutritious foods and take prescribed medications for proper healing. One must also undergo and have a vaccine to prevent the spread of this virus.
